Post Summary

  • In 2026, the major software update cycle for 19 specific Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices will permanently come to an end.

  • HyperOS 3 will be the absolute final major OS upgrade for these phones, meaning they will miss out on future AI features and UI overhauls.

  • Even though major updates will stop, these devices will still receive regular security patches for a certain period according to the official policy.

Today’s discussion is about an important issue for Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO users. Many phones have already received or are getting HyperOS 3, but not all phones have the same software support. For some devices, getting the final HyperOS 3 update means they will no longer receive any major OS upgrades. That is, these phones will no longer receive any major updates to HyperOS 4 or later.

However, the good news is that the devices will still receive security patches according to the update policy. In today’s article, we will discuss this issue in detail. I will list some phones for which HyperOS 3 is going to be the last stop and at the same time, I will also briefly remind you of what HyperOS 3 brought before.

What HyperOS 3 Brought to These Devices

After the arrival of HyperOS 3, many users have got a new experience. System animations have become smoother, notification management has been improved and some new AI features have been added. Features like Super Island have arrived on many devices, where notifications and statuses are displayed more intelligently. The camera app has received some optimizations, especially in Pro mode and video recording. Battery management has also improved somewhat in many cases.

But the biggest thing is that this update has become the last major change for many older or mid-range phones. According to Xiaomi’s software policy, some devices receive a certain number of major updates and then are limited to security support only. And after that, the device stops receiving software updates forever.

Full List of Devices Where HyperOS 3 is the Final Major Update

The devices I am naming below have been selected based on the official support policy and the eligible list of HyperOS 4. These phones have received or are receiving HyperOS 3, but the possibility of the next major update is almost non-existent.

Xiaomi Devices

  • Xiaomi 12
  • Xiaomi 12 Pro
  • Xiaomi 12T
  • Xiaomi 12T Pro
  • Xiaomi 13 Lite

These phones were once popular as flagships or upper mid-range. The Xiaomi 12 series performed particularly well, but the software support limit has now reached its end.

Redmi Devices

  • Redmi Note 12
  • Redmi Note 12 5G
  • Redmi Note 12 Pro
  • Redmi Note 12 Pro+
  • Redmi Note 12S
  • Redmi 12
  • Redmi 12C
  • Redmi 13C
  • Redmi 13C 5G

The Redmi Note 12 series once performed well in the budget and mid-range categories and also earned a lot of fame at that time. The balance of camera, battery and display was good. But now HyperOS 3 is considered the last major update for most models in this series.

POCO Devices

  • POCO F5
  • POCO F5 Pro
  • POCO X6
  • POCO X6 Pro
  • POCO M6 Pro

These models of the POCO series are known as performance-focused phones. Especially the F5 and X6 series gave good response in gaming and daily use. However, in terms of software support, these are also at the last stage.

A total of 19 devices have been included in the above list. The update status of some models may differ slightly by region, but overall, the possibility of a major new HyperOS version for these phones is very low.

What Users Should Expect Going Forward

After getting HyperOS 3, it can be assumed that these devices will not get any major interface changes or new AI features. However, security patches may continue for some time, especially if a major security threat arises. Users are advised to keep regular backups and keep important apps updated. If someone wants long-term software support, it would be better to look at the new series.

A Quick Look at HyperOS 4

Phones that will get HyperOS 4 will likely see improved AI integration, smoother animations, and a new system design. This update, based on Android 17, is expected to focus on productivity and cross-device connectivity. But the devices that are the focus of today’s discussion will not be included in this new journey.

All in all, HyperOS 3 has brought a good experience for many users. But for some phones, this is the last major update. If your phone is on the list above, it’s wise to plan for the future now. If you want to know more about a specific model, let us know in the comments.
