Apple is reportedly planning a massive design overhaul for the iPhone 20 series in 2027 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone.
Leaks suggest the Dynamic Island will be completely replaced by an under-display camera and Face ID setup, alongside a premium quad-curved display.
The futuristic iPhone 20 is expected to feature a new silicon anode battery for larger capacity, solid-state buttons, and a completely redesigned camera module.

The iPhone 18 series launch is just a few months away, but the discussion about Apple’s next big step has already begun. Front Page Tech (FPT) recently published a very high-quality render of the iPhone 20 series. 2027 marks the iPhone’s 20th anniversary, and recent leaks suggest Apple could be preparing a major design refresh.
The renders hint at several possible design changes, such as it may have an Under-Display Camera. The Dynamic Island will probably disappear completely this time. The selfie camera and Face ID components could move under the display. As a result, we will see a full-screen view here, which will look very premium.
Another feature in this list of changes is the Quad-Curved Display. Reports suggest a subtle quad-curved display design, rather than an aggressive waterfall-style panel. Which could improve in-hand feel without compromising usability. The phone looks much thinner and more premium in the renders.

Apple’s iconic camera module design will also be seen changing this time. The redesigned camera module might feature a horizontal or completely flush layout, somewhat reminiscent of the Pixel series. However, this time, it is reported that there is a possibility of a major upgrade not only in the external look, but also in the internal camera sensor and image processing system.
This leak suggests that the phone will see a new battery technology called “silicon anode”. This means that the size same but the capacity will be larger. New AI RAM may be used and there is a strong possibility of solid-state buttons (haptic feedback). All in all, it seems that Apple wants to commemorate their 20-year journey this time.
What to expect at WWDC26?
Now that the iPhone 18 series is just a few months away from launch, all eyes are now on WWDC 2026. At this event, we will get to know about new features and some major innovations from Apple Intelligence. Then in September 2026, Apple could partially unveil their first foldable phone along with the iPhone 18 series.
And the following year, in September 2027, we will get to see the iPhone 20 series – which will be Apple’s 20th anniversary model.
Looking at these latest renders and leaks, it really feels like Apple is planning a major design overhaul for the iPhone 20 series. If the under-display camera, quad-curved display, and the redesigned camera layout actually make it to the final version, this could easily turn out to be the biggest visual change we’ve seen since the iPhone X back in 2017.
