Launch Price and ConfigurationSpecifications comparisonOPPO Pad Mini Vs Redmi K Pad 2Conclusion

Two popular brands (Oppo and Redmi) have launched two tablets in their premium range in the Chinese market on the same day. On one hand, OPPO’s Pad Mini – which is small in size, very slim and has a premium feel. On the other hand, Redmi’s K Pad 2 – which is quite popular for gaming and long battery life. Both are around 8.8 inches in size, but they have quite a few differences in display technology, processor, battery and use cases. For those looking for a compact tablet, comparing these two has become very important.

Launch Price and Configuration

At the time of launch in China, both fall in the mid-premium segment in terms of price. The base variant (8GB + 256GB) of OPPO Pad Mini starts at around ¥3,199 (approximately ₹43,000–45,000 or $470). The higher variant (12GB + 256GB) goes up to ¥3,499.

On the other hand, the 8GB + 256GB variant of the Redmi K Pad 2 starts at ¥3,399 (approximately ₹46,000–48,000 or $500), and the 16GB + 512GB variant starts at ¥4,799. Both are in the same price range, but which one will offer more value will depend on your needs.

Specifications comparison

The biggest difference between the two tablets is the display and processor. The OPPO Pad Mini has an 8.8-inch 2.5K LTPO OLED display that supports a 144Hz refresh rate. The OLED panel means that colors are vibrant, contrast is good, and black levels are perfect. It also comes with very slim bezels (2.99mm), which looks modern. On the other hand, the Redmi K Pad 2 has an 8.8-inch 3K LCD display with a 165Hz refresh rate. Being an LCD, the colors and contrast are not as sharp as OLED, but the higher refresh rate gives a smoother feel in gaming and scrolling. However, if you compare it to real life, OPPO can be seen to be a little ahead here.

In terms of processor, the OPPO Pad Mini uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, which offers flagship-level performance. On the other hand, the Redmi K Pad 2 has the MediaTek Dimensity 9500. Both chips are powerful, but Snapdragon is generally known for strong gaming and graphics performance, while Dimensity is good in long-term sustained performance and efficiency. If you look at the Antutu scores of the two chipsets, although they are very close, but you will see a little difference here.

In terms of battery, the Redmi K Pad 2 is clearly ahead – a 9100mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging. The OPPO Pad Mini has an 8000mAh battery with the same 67W charging speed. Both will provide long backups in daily use, but the Redmi’s larger battery will benefit gaming or video streaming.

In terms of design, the OPPO Pad Mini is much more premium. It is just 5.39mm thick and 279 grams in weight – it feels very light in the hand and can be used with one hand. The Redmi K Pad 2 is a bit thicker (6.62mm) and heavier (345 grams). However, the Redmi has dual X-axis haptics, Bose tuned speakers and a better cooling system.

Conclusion

Both tablets have their own strengths. OPPO Pad Mini is a good option for those who want a very slim, light and premium visual of OLED display. It is suitable for studying, media consumption and long-term use for light. On the other hand, Redmi K Pad 2 is more suitable for those who play games, want long battery life and want good haptics and audio. Its large battery, high refresh rate and cooling system will provide benefits for gaming and heavy use.

However, keep in mind that neither is perfect. OPPO is slimness and display quality are very impressive, where Redmi battery, gaming performance and audio very good. You have to choose based on what you need – portability or power. Both are good, but if you look closely at the price and specifications, the green factory is slightly better.
