Lenovo has announced the launch date of the next generation of its Idea Tab series. The launch page of the Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 has been spotted live on Amazon India, where some of the key features of the tablet have been revealed. Ahead of the launch, the brand has revealed information about the new tablet, which suggests that the company is creating an updated option for productivity-focused users.

The details that are visible on the Amazon page reveal that the tablet is coming with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 powerful processor which is launched in India on 1st May. The screen is a 13-inch 3.5K display (3504 x 2190 resolution). Tab Pen Plus support has also been confirmed with the tablet, which undoubtedly makes the tablet feel more premium.
Expected specifications on Idea Tab Pro Gen 2
The display is an LTPS IPS panel, supports 144Hz refresh rate, 600 nits typical brightness and 800 nits peak brightness. It supports Dolby Vision, 99% DCI-P3 color gamut and is Flicker Free, Low Blue Light (Hardware Solution) and Full Care Display certified by TÜV Rheinland. There is also an optional matte version that offers a Paper-like Anti-glare surface and has received TÜV Reflection Free certification. The screen-to-body ratio is 89% and the pixel density is 319 PPI.
The tablet is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor. The chipset comes with a Octa-core configuration (1×3.21 GHz Cortex-X4 + 3×3.0 GHz Cortex-A720 + 2×2.8 GHz Cortex-A720 + 2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A720) and Adreno 825 GPU. RAM 8GB or 12GB (LPDDR5X) and storage 128GB, 256GB or 512GB UFS (3.1/4.0), expandable up to 2TB with microSD slot.
It has a 10200mAh Li-ion Battery. According to lab tests, the company claims that it can provide up to 12.5 hours of backup in both video playback and web browsing. Charging 45W (10V/4.5A USB-C adapter) support is also available. The audio section has 4 JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos support. There is a 13MP autofocus sensor (with flashlight) on the rear and an 8MP fixed focus camera lens on the front.
Operating system Android 16, two major upgrades (Android 18) and the promise of four years of security patches. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be), Bluetooth 6.0, USB-C (5Gbps, charging + DP-Out + audio) and Pogo pin connector (for keyboard). Sensors include accelerometer + gyro, hall sensor and RGB sensor. There is no vibration motor which may disappoint gamers a little. Dimensions are 296.48 x 191.91 x 6.2mm (7.6mm with camera bump) and weight is around 598 grams. Color options are Cloud Grey, Jelly Mint, Luna Grey etc.
Comparison with first generation
The 1st generation had a MediaTek Dimensity processor and a 12.7-inch 3K display. The processor was upgraded to Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 in Gen 2, the display is bigger and sharper, the refresh rate is increased and AI features are added. The design is slimmer and the pen support is better.
The Amazon India listing is still at the “coming soon” stage. The global launch has been done and it is priced at €549 (which is approximately Rs 58,850). The price in India is expected to start at ₹55,000.
