  • The base 8GB + 256GB variant now starts at ₹41,999, while the top-tier 12GB + 256GB model will cost ₹46,999.

  • This industry-wide price hike is heavily driven by the global shortage of RAM and NAND flash storage caused by the rising demand from AI data centers.

OnePlus Nord 6 Price Hiked!

OnePlus Nord 6 has increased its price just 43 days after its launch. Now the price of 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variant is ₹41,999. And the price of 12 GB RAM + 256 GB variant has increased to ₹46,999. This comes as disappointing news for buyers who missed the initial sales or were waiting for a discount.

How Much Has the OnePlus Nord 6 Price Increased?

The OnePlus Nord 6 was launched on April 7. At launch, the 8GB + 256GB variant was priced at ₹38,999, while the 12GB + 256GB variant cost ₹41,999. With this price adjustment, both models have become costlier by ₹3,000 and ₹5,000, respectively. The phone was sold out very quickly in the first sale. It appears the prices were adjusted to reflect the current market conditions when the new stock arrived.

  • 8GB RAM + 256GB Storage
    Launched: ₹38,999
    Now: ₹41,999 (Increase of ₹3,000)
  • 12GB RAM + 256GB Storage
    Launched: ₹41,999
    Now: ₹46,999 (Increase of ₹5,000)

This price hike is not just for the Nord 6. The same thing has happened with other OnePlus models in the last few months. The OnePlus 15 and 15R series have also seen a price hike of several thousand rupees. However, it is not just OnePlus, some models from other brands have also seen the same problem. Smartphone brands have indicated that component cost pressures are affecting pricing.

Why OnePlus Nord 6 Price Hiked?

Many people will already know about the global RAM and NAND flash memory crisis, and this is the main reason. AI data centers (Microsoft, Google, Meta, Amazon) are buying a large amount of high-bandwidth memory (HBM). Large companies like Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron are now using a large part of their production capacity for AI. As a result, the supply of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS storage required for smartphones has decreased.

As a result, the price of memory has increased a lot in the last one year. The production costs of smartphone companies have increased, so they are forced to increase prices. This is not just a problem for OnePlus, but has become a challenge for the entire industry.

Now the question is – is the OnePlus Nord 6 still worth buying at this new price? The phone has a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, 9000 mAh battery, 165 Hz 1.5K AMOLED display and good cameras. Gaming and battery life are still very strong. But at this price, it now faces stronger competition in the same price bracket. This is a bit disappointing for those who wanted to buy it earlier. New buyers will now have to pay noticeably more. However, in this situation, OnePlus’ previous phone 13R can be a good alternative option. But keep in mind that if you’re looking for a bigger battery, you might want to look at other options.

OnePlus’ price hike is part of a larger trend in the market. AI is driving up memory prices, which is gradually driving up smartphone prices. More companies are likely to follow suit in the coming months.
